It’s actually quite wonderful in the rain now. It drives like a normal car, except that when you get careless with it, you’ll die. It’s quite liberating. And it also doesn’t leak, because contrary to every sales ad for a used Corvette, all of them have been wet. They leak test them at the factory.
And that is your reminder that I now have a Cavalier.

That’s because the rain puts out the fire :p

It’s not a Ferrari.

Curious, do they leak test every car?

Do boomers really say stuff like that to you?
I’d laugh at them in their faces. It’s all so silly.
![]() 07/13/2019 at 20:35 |

Thats because you haven’t pulled a boomer and raced it in the rain. The combustion happens after that.

If you post with rain in the pic, at least one will bring it up.

Supposedly yes.

Yeah... so many people get irrationally afraid of the world as they age.

These people need to get outside and enjoy what time they have left rather than make stupid comments like that.
But this is what you should truly aspire to:

I’d like to think the reason it was never driven was because it’s a bad car, not for investment purposes, but I know better.

I hear they are harder to drive if you are wearing new balance walking shoes.

I truly hope I get to drive this one into the ground. I mean, it’s cool to look at, but driving it every day hasn’t got old yet. Someday, I might need 4 doors or space, but today is not that day.

“ It drives like a normal car, except that when you get careless with it, you’ll die.”
Isn't that, like, half the fun?
![]() 07/13/2019 at 20:59 |

That could be, but I drive it with hiking boots every day, so...

Yes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredibly easy to drive, even in the rain. But if you are clumsy with it, it will bite back. It has traction control, but it’s GM in the early 2000's, it’s either overly intrusive or not really there. The throttle is super heavy though, so you have to really lean into for it to misbehave.

I saw a convertible C1 being driven in the rain today. Gave the guy a thumbs up.

TC is like a boomer. Takes a while to wake up.

How many miles does yours have on it?

They are out there, they are few and far between. That being said, not driving C1 & C2's is a little more understandable.

82,100 or so. I got it with 76k.

Stupid question - MPH looks
lit up in green in the speedo...is the speedo configurable to show KPH or MPH and one light or the
other lights up to show this?

So i

’s not trying to actively murder you, so that’s good.
Unless you’re a Viper guy. They seem to be into that sort of thing.

Aah cool. I’m about 35 k ahead of you
![]() 07/13/2019 at 21:12 |

Yes, if you press a button beside the cluster, the light switches to KPH.

From what I’ve heard from owners who aren’t old, the Viper is pretty much the same. Someone on here dailied one.
I think the problem lies with old guys buying them, expecting the fast of old, on top of having tires that don’t grip. While both of these will initially spin, then hook quickly in whatever direction the car is now pointing.
![]() 07/13/2019 at 21:17 |

It’s easy to drive with it off, so when it dies, it dies.

The Viper felt quite linear to me when I drove a 94 in terms of how the rear end moves around. Same as our Vettes

Without getting real driving shoes I really like driving in Adidas Sambas.

Where do you buy your tigers? I’m looking to buy my first pair. Probably Mexico 66s.

Amazon or Zappos is a good bet. Don’t pay MRSP for them, though. I love them and they’re my favorite sneakers, but they’re not worth $85. $60 is probably the sweet spot.

Amazon is your best bet.

But can you switch RPMs to something more metricy, like, I dunno, radian s/sec?

Unfortunately, this is 1997 technology , so no.

GM must still have it under patent protection or something, I don’t think I’ve seen it on any other brand of vehicle. At least not one with normal gauges.
![]() 07/14/2019 at 08:05 |

Same! I can’t think of another vehicle with analog gauges that has that function!
